A long goodbye ended Saturday, January 2nd as our family said a final goodbye to a mother, friend and grandmother. We owe everything to a woman who always demanded our best yet asked for little for herself. Dorothy and her family relocated from Kansas to Scottsdale in 1960. She raised four children and touched the lives of thousands more as a teacher and administrator. A fixture for 30 years in the Scottsdale School District, Dorothy taught at Hopi, Pueblo, Mohave, Cocopah and Ingleside. She was most proud of her work as Principal at Cherokee Elementary, where she was affectionately called Doc Tot. Dorothy received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Wichita State University, her M.A. From Arizona State University and her doctorate in Education Administration from Northern Arizona University. Never one to shirk responsibility, retirement was far from restful.
