Dorothy Larson, age 90, of Burt, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Bancroft. Dorothy May Larson, daughter of Otto and Minnie (Gergets) Blanck, was born on July 14, 1925, in Knoke, Iowa. At the age of 1 ½ her family moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa where she attended school and graduated from Fort Dodge High School.
On March 9, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Rex Larson in Webster City, Iowa. The couple moved to Davenport where they lived for nearly 30 years. In 1980 they moved to Fortuna, MO where they lived for a year. Dorothy and Rex then moved to Burt in 1981. Dorothy was a Homemaker, but here in her earlier years, she worked in a Bakery and the Tobin Meat Packing Plant. She was a member of Community Chapel in Lakota and the YMCA. Dorothy loved to work in her garden, read, run and jog, and most of all, her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Rex; her parents; four brothers: Adolph, Henry, Frank and Dale and five sisters; Ann, Martha, Dena, Randi and Norma. She is survived by her three sons: Rex (Marti) Larson of Ottumwa, Kim (Tina) Larson of Mandeville, LA and Dana (Lynda) Larson of Davenport; a daughter, Kristie Muncie of Arkansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
