Dorothy Lantz Lavinder, 94, of Glen Burnie, passed away on Dec. 3, 2017 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake Inpatient Care Center in Pasadena.
Dorothy was born on Dec. 1, 1923 in Edinburg, VA to the late Edward and Della (Pence) Lantz. She was married to Alfred (Al) Lavinder for 62 years. Whether you knew her as Dorothy, Miss Dottie or Aunt Dot she was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt and friend who was dearly loved and will be missed beyond measure. Dottie was a long-time and faithful member of the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church. In years past, she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Friendship Circle, and served on the Administrative Board. She was a woman of a quiet and very deep faith in God. She was greatly loved and was an inspiration to many within her church family and beyond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; sons, Gregory Allen Lavinder, and Dwight Lynn Lavinder; daughter-in-law, Gloria Lavinder ;brothers, William, Linden, Bobby, and Douglas Lantz; sister, Louise Luttrell. She is survived by, her nephews, Donald Luttrell of Gordonsville, VA, Keith Lantz of Woodstock, VA; nieces Peggy Smoot of Woodstock, VA, and Melanie Gum of New Market, VA; and a host of extended family and friends.
