Dorothy Louisa (Barker) Wetzel, 93, formerly of Fox Point, WI and Minocqua, WI, died September 12, 2018 at WoodRidge Supportive Living in Galesburg. “Dottie” was born June 6, 1925 in Spartanburg, S.C.; the daughter of Charles and Jennie Dean (Bishop) Barker.  On Nov. 26, 1943 she married William E. Wetzel in Spartanburg.

After nearly 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death Oct.26, 2003. Dottie worked for many years as Vice President of mortgages/loans at Heritage Bank of Whitefish Bay and later, after Bill retired, as a director and Vice President of Northern Highlands State Bank in Mercer, WI.

She was well-respected and loved as one of the few women, at the time, in the male-dominated banking industry. Dottie was a natural-born artist all her life.  She enjoyed creating in the fine art mediums and after retirement, especially enjoyed designing and working in stained glass and with Bill, woodcarving.

They also took up and thoroughly enjoyed square dancing in both Wisconsin and Texas.  Dottie was an adventurer and oftentimes accompanied Barbara and her group of GHS students on summer trips to Europe.  She truly was a ‘southern’ lady and a gentle soul who loved her family!   Dottie is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Larry) Felsecker, Galesburg; a son William C. Wetzel, Minocqua, WI; granddaughters Jeanne (Kevin) Bobofchak, Point of Rocks, MD; Julie Felsecker, Milwaukee, WI; great grandsons Alden and Alexander (Bobofchak); and a niece and two nephews. In addition to her husband,

Dottie was preceded in death by both twin siblings, Jennie and Charles; an infant sister; and her parents.
