Dorothy Louise Coffey passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, October 23. Family holidays will never be the same without Dorothy’s love and passion for holiday treats. She will be missed tremendously.
Dorothy was born in Blair, Nebraska in 1931 to Walter and Lily Anderson. Dorothy met her husband to-be, Charles ‘Lee’ Coffey, at a dance in Nebraska and never looked back. Lee and Dorothy married in 1952 and made their final home in Boise, Idaho where they raised three sons and where Dorothy ran an at-home-daycare for almost 40 years.
Dorothy loved her family and friends and always wanted someone to drop by for snacks. She was the utmost hostess and there wasn’t a recipe she wouldn’t tackle. Dorothy and Lee spent weekends camping, boating, or fishing and they also loved to dance at the Elks and Eagle Lodge enjoying the many friends they made there. Dorothy worked hard, but was always ready for fun too.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband, Lee, and is survived by their sons Ron (Cherie), Rod (Linda), and Robin (Sariah). She loved her grandkids Jamie, Rachael (Mike), Michael (Kyla), Jen (Micah), and Brandon as well as her great-grandchildren Hayden, Kaylee, Nicolas, and Caleb. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings Darlene, Richard, and Robert. She also had a special bond with her nephews and nieces Jerry (Patty), Cheryl (Charlie), and Randy.
The family wants to thank Heatherwood Senior Living and Hillcrest Assisted Living for bingo and shopping trips as well as Lighthouse Hospice for their compassionate care of Dorothy.
