Dorothy Wiggins was born on September 19, 1942 in Morgan County, Alabama to Mordecai Fowler and Mary Kidd. Dorothy was reared by her adoptive parents, Jessie Harris and Tamar Fowler Harris in Louisville, KY, until the age of eight. The family relocated to Alabama.

Dorothy attended Morgan County Training School, St. Bernard College, Calhoun College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in AERO Space Computer Technology, later retiring from .A.S.A-Rockwell, United Space Alliance. She also served as a children’s mentor counselor by serving and aiding in the S.P.U.D.S. Program serving as Vice President for Hartselle Community Task Force.

Dorothy was a member of Providence M.B. Church in Campground, where she served as church pianist.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary McCollum, Mattie Martin, Emma Sanders, Dorothy Mitchell; one brother, Jerry Fowler; two daughters, Myra, Shelia; three sons, Eric, Richard and Jeffery Wiggins.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Verna Garner (Mark), and Shalonda Wiggins (Jack); three sons, Jessie Williams, Pernell Wiggins (Tomika) and Terry Wiggins (Lindsey) all of Hartselle; three sisters, Reba Lampkin, Wilhemenia Sharpley of Hartselle, Ethel Mae Brown of Laurinburg, N.C.; two brothers, Derotec Bell of Philadelphia, PA and Dorsey Bell (Wilma) of Rhombus, MI. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
