Dorothy Lee Perkins Jones, 86, of Flemingsburg, gained her wings on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Fleming County Hospital.  She was surrounded by her beloved family.

Born in Hillsboro on March 8, 1936, she was the oldest of three children born to the late Eldon Douglas Perkins and the late Olive Denton Perkins.

Dorothy attended Fleming County High School in the location now referred to as Simons Middle School.  There she met her husband, Kenneth Jones.  Dorothy and Kenneth married on July 26, 1952, and were together for 70 years and 15 days that included three children, six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy was not only the mother and grandmother of her family but she was also the mother/grandmother of her street and her children’s friends. She worked at the concession stand at the Princess Theater for several years where Kenneth was the manager.  In the 1970’s she worked the concession stand at the Flemingsburg Drive-In, where she and Kenneth were part owners.

Dorothy was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church.  On March 31, 1963, she changed her membership to the Flemingsburg Christian Church and served as a deaconess. Dorothy will be remembered as a devoted Christian wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family and cooking for them.

She leaves behind her husband, Kenneth Ray Jones; two of her children, Patricia (Mark) Mullins of Pikeville and Jeremy (Valerie) Jones of Morehead; her daughter-in-law, Mae Jones of Flemingsburg.  She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Joey Jones, Tori Jones, Shauna Jones, Tonya B. Gulley, Buzz (Ashley) Ballard, and Alexander Mullins; her 10 great grandchildren, Jentry Jones, Jade Jones, Traven Shrout, Lakyn Gray, Chaz Ballard, Carsen Gulley, Chaisen Gulley, Jordan Ballard, Jonathon Hickerson, and Shyla Ballard; her five great, great grandchildren, Asher, Addlyn, Layla, Raelyn, and Jackson; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents Eldon and Olive, Dorothy was preceded in death by her oldest son, Ricky Ray Jones; her brother, Wayne Perkins; her sister, Norma Jean Perkins Smith; her brother in law, J. E. Smith.
