Dorothy (Driftmier) Johnson, 100, of Tecumseh, died May 26, 2014. She was born to Martin and Leanna (Field) Driftmier on May 13, 1914 in Shenandoah, IA. Dorothy grew up in Shenandoah, Iowa. She attended Chadron State College in Chadron, NE until contracting Tuberculosis in 1933. For a year she recuperated at home and went on to receive a teaching endorsement. Dorothy was married to Frank Johnson on Nov. 29, 1938. She taught in a rural school in Iowa for two years and also worked in the County Superintendent’s office. Dorothy and Frank briefly lived in California during WWII and both worked at Lockheed Aircraft. They gave birth to a baby girl, Kristin, in 1942 in Hollywood, CA. After her birth, Frank and Dorothy settled back on the family farm in Lucas County, Iowa.
