Dorothy Jean Hoffman, age 88, of Union, died peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2017 in Elkhart General Hospital in the presence and comfort of her family. She was born March 30, 1928 in Constantine, Michigan, the second to the youngest child of Melvin and Sylvia (Boyer) Reinoehl. She married William Edwin “Bill” Hoffman November 29, 1946 in Warsaw, Indiana.

He preceded her in death in 2003 after more than sixty six years of marriage. She was also preceded by two sisters, Wilma Harp, Dolores Sharp and two brothers, Howard Reinoehl and Herman Reinoehl. Dorothy Jean graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1946. From the time she was married until her passing, she lived in only four different homes, all within a mile of each other.

She worked at Excel Corporation in Elkhart for twenty two years and Woods Construction for ten years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and doing crafts. She served as a 4-H leader. Dorothy Jean was a member of Bristol United Methodist Church of Bristol, Indiana, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a past member of the Red Hat Society. Dorothy Jean cherished her family dearly.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Florida. She loved all of her Boston Terrier and German Shepherd dogs. Dorothy Jean will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Janet and Greg Micinski of Comstock Park; her son and daughter in law William P. and Janice Hoffman of Union; six grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
