Dorothy Jean Gowdy was born on April 7, 1958 to Henry Lee Sloan and Willie B. Grace in Meridian, MS. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mindion Zan Primitive Baptist Church.
Dorothy attended Northeast High School. She furthered her education at Meridian Community College. She later started her career at Lauderdale Mill where she retired after 20 years of service.
Dorothy loved her family. She was a strong hardworking woman. She also loved giving back to her community. To know her was to love her.
On Sunday, August 8, 2021 God saw fit to dispatch his angels to come and move Dorothy from her earthly life to her heavenly home.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Henry Lee Sloan, husband, David Lee Gowdy and son, David D. Gowdy.
Dorothy leaves to honor her legacy and cherish her memory her fiancé, Eddie Ruffin; her loving mother, Willie B. Grace; three children, Keshicia Windham, Kimberly Grace, and Karla Gowdy; two siblings, Bobbie A. Grace and Johnny Grace; four grandchildren, Quatrianna Grace, Krisha Una Hill, Itianna Grace, and Demauri Scarbrough; a close friend, Willie Mae Scott and a host of uncle, aunts, cousins and friends.
