Dorothy Jean Davis was born February 24, 1942. She was the eldest child born of six siblings born to Walter and Young Webb. Her mother and father, three siblings and a nephew all preceded her in death.
Dorothy attended school #87, and Crispus Attucks High School, where she received her diploma. After high school, she began her working career at Wasson Department Store. From there, she went on to work for William N. Wishard Hospital, where she met the love of her life and later married James Howard Davis, Sr. From this union, their son was born James Howard Davis, Jr.
Dorothy left Wishard Hospital and began working for RCA, where she retired after 20 years of employment. Dorothy was a jack of all trades and what we like to call a serial entrepreneur. In 1975, Dorothy opened up Dorothy’s Arcade and Variety Store; from there to Dorothy’s New and Used Furniture Store. In 1985, Dorothy’s love for children caused her to open her school “Smart Starts Here” which existed until 2005. Dorothy earned her real-estate licenses and went on to work for Lifestyle Realty Group, Inc.
Dorothy Jean Davis departed this life on September 4, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
