Dorothy J. Slaten, 80, of Salem passed away Sunday July 29, 2018 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born December 11, 1937 in Kane, Illinois, daughter of Ross and Evelyn Hancock. She married Kenneth Slaten in 1980 and he preceded her in death.
Dorothy is survived by three sons: Robert and wife Karen of Las Vegas, Jessie of Kell, and Charles and wife Lorrie of Centralia; grandchildren: Jennie, Jeremy, Jamie, Jessie Jr., Dustin, Kim, Kerrie, Kristy, Billy, and Johnny; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister: Glenda of Beardstown, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Kenneth Slaten, son Danny, a sister Doris, two daughter-in-law’s Diane and Paula, and a special friend Ellie Hawn. She was a member of the Evergreen Christian Church in Salem. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed camping and was a Cardinals fan. Dorothy was loved by many and will be missed dearly by friends and family.
