Dorothy Joan Martino, 88, a lifelong resident of Woodbridge, passed away October 30th 2021 after a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Woodbridge September 25, 1933 a daughter of the late Francis P. and Antoinette Mattazaro Martino.
Dorothy attended Hillhouse High School, graduated from New Haven State Teacher’s College, and received her 6th Year from Fairfield University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for 60 years. Dorothy impacted the lives of her students as a teacher in New Haven Public Schools for over 40 years. Her devotion as a teacher in New Haven eventually led to the library in Edgewood School to be renamed the Dorothy J. Martino Library.
Dorothy is survived her sister Frances Pagliaro and her brother Dr. Edward Martino (Patricia); and nieces and nephews, Ernie (Louellen), Elaine, Ellen (Jerry), Kenny (Tricia), Gary, Francis, Eddie (Kellie), MaryEllen (Gene), and Tricia (Lee); and many great nieces and nephews all of whom she adored. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother Kenneth, her brother-in-law Ernie, sister-in law Jayne, her niece Deb, and her nephew Edward.
