Dorothy Hood Gann, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Manorhouse Assisted Living following a lengthy illness. Dot was a native of Columbus, Mississippi. Before coming to Chattanooga, she and her husband lived in McAllen and Big Springs, Texas during WWII. After the war, Mr. Gann’s career took them to Birmingham, AL; Westchester County, NY; Dallas, TX and Anniston, Alabama. They both enjoyed seeing the country and meeting new friends. Dot was a very sociable person who loved people. She attended Mississippi State College for Women and the University of Texas. She was an English major and loved to write poetry for family and friends. She retired from TVA after coming to Chattanooga.
