She died at 9:35 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, in Chase Center.
Born March 19, 1920, in Evansville, she was the daughter of Adolphus and Emma Ellen Taylor Whitney. She was married Sept. 23, 1938, in Logansport, to Wayne D. Jackson, who preceded in death Sept. 27, 2006.
Dorrie was a tutor of grade school and high school literature students and enjoyed children of all ages. She was a 1938 graduate of Logansport High School and attended Indiana University.
Surviving are sister, Peggy Townsend, Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Nancy Sharon Andree and her husband, Jim, Austin, Texas, and Jayne Beth Hershman, South Bend; grandchildren, Kenneth J. Andree, Bethany Andree Gilkey and her husband, Karl, Elizabeth Hammane and her husband, Dave, and Andrew Westin; great-grandchildren, Michael and Ethan Andree and Seth, Noah and Josh Shreeves; sister-in-law, Ruth D’Andrea, and her husband, Joe, Logansport; brothers-in-law, Jim Jackson and his wife, Deloris, Logansport, Earl Jackson and his wife, Ellie, Harlington, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Whitney; nephew, Ben Townsend; and niece, Nikki Sue Porter.
