Dorothy Guthrie, 99, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Keystone Cedars in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Dorothy was born on December 20, 1913 near Confidence, Iowa, to William Josiah and Clara Effie (Hayhurst) Kern.
She graduated from Corydon High School.
On March 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Henry M. Guthrie in Russell, Iowa.
Their marriage was blessed with two children: Clara Marie and Mitchell “Gene”.
She lived most of her life in Chariton, Iowa.
In September 2000 she moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Dorothy enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking and was known as a wonderful cook.
She also grew violets of many kinds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Loyd and Eugene; two half-sisters and two half-brothers.
She is survived by her daughter Clara Netolicky and husband, Charles of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and her son, Gene Guthrie and wife, Mary, of Long Lake, Minnesota; grandchildren Jerry & Cindy Netolicky; Scott & Kris Netolicky; Chuck & Diane Hensley; Tom & Sara Netolicky; great grandchildren and extended family.
