Dorothy Kennedy Guasco, 88, a longtime Silver City resident passed away early Tuesday morning January 25, 2011 at the Silver City Care Center.
She was born August 11, 1922 in Hico, Texas to Oliver Kennedy and Estelee Witt. In 1943 she joined the Army medics and took her training in Georgia transferring later to New Mexico which she learned to love. She served as a ward master in Santa Fe helping the nurses with tuberculosis patients, which she described as a very busy job, but gave her a great feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day.
She had a great love for her patients respecting their time given as soldiers. She married Raymond Guasco whom she had met in the service in December of 1946. Raymond passed away January 1, 1993. It was at that time that she returned to Silver City and kept herself busy enjoying her life until she had to go to the health facility.
Ten nieces and nephews survive her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, 3 sisters and 3 nieces and nephews.
