Dorothy M. Gravelyn, age 90 of Lake Isabella formerly of Chippewa Lake, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Mt.s a young lady she took on most of the male roles on the farm and household.  She was proud to be an avid trapper following her Irish father to the lands they trapped. She was acknowledged many times for walking trap lines before heading home from school. Her knowledge of trapping and animals was immense, and she loved her 4-10’s. Her adventurous personality continues to contribute to our family even today. She married, James Gravelyn and together they raised their family in Grand Rapids. She worked for General Motors as a seamstress for 30 years and later returned to Chippewa Lake. Her legacy left is a family of strong children who never questioned their ability to succeed at any challenge put in front of them. Dorothy is survived by a son, LaVail & Cindy Hull of Traverse City; three daughters, Janice Hubbard of Lake Isabella, Wendy & Joe Peters of Rockford, Anne & Steve Mulder of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Sarah Hull Mulder, Nathan & Heather Hull, David Hull & Kristen Baumann, Shayla & Adam McArthur, Tyler & Allison Hubbard, Samantha Metcalf, James & Lauren Peters, Riley McCormick Peters & Fiancé Taylor Pawlanta, Jacob Mulder and Emilee Mulder; great-grandchildren, Adeline & Elliot Mulder, Scarlett Hull, Brynn & Bode McArthur, Henley & Brooks Hubbard, Cora & Lyla Metcalf, Leighton & Brody Peters; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Roger Gravelyn; sisters, Adeline McCormick and Virginia Budd.
