Dorothy E. Groen, 87, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018.
She was born May 13, 1931, in Shannon, IL to the late Pete and Carrie (Eichmeier) Mohlenkamp. Dorothy married Elmer Groen on August 30, 1953. They raised their family in the Shannon area where she was a homemaker and helped on the farm. Dorothy was a cook for the Shannon School for 25 years. After retirement, she baked numerous pies for friends and family all over the Shannon area and for local Farmer’s Markets.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Rick (Betty) Groen; her daughter, Dawn (John) Collman; grandchildren, Shawn (Dee) Groen, Shelby (Curt) Johnson, Kara (Kevin) Howell, Gretta (Dennis) Clapp, Ben Collman, and Hannah Collman; great-grandchildren, Gage, Madelyn, Alaina, Trevor, AJ, Luke, Reece and Mya; and her sister, Lois Swalve. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Craig Groen; sister, Helen Swalve; and brother, Lemoine Mohlenkamp.
