Dorothy (Dot) Guaglianone, age 88, of Shelton formerly of Stratford beloved wife of the late Amedeo(Shorty) Guaglianone Jr., died on Wednesday, September 29th  2021.  Dot was born in Bridgeport in 1933 to the late Michael and Margaret Durica Kucky.  In her post high school years she was a secretary at Raybestos in Stratford where she met and married Shorty.  She then devoted her life to raising their children and volunteering.  She loved gardening, nature, animals, camping and crafting.  She had a keen sense of adventure and was up for any road-trip that her children or Shorty would suggest. When her children were young, she entertained neighborhood kids with craft projects such as tie dye shirts and with a ready pitcher of Kool Aid. She spent many joyful hours helping to raise her grandchildren.  She loved to attend their games, recitals and school activities and was very proud of all their accomplishments.  She was an active volunteer as troop leader and as neighborhood chairman for Stratford for the Girl Scouts of CT.  She mentored many Girl Scout leaders and children and loved the role she played in helping them to love and appreciate the great outdoors and camping.  Dot also volunteered her time at Holy Name of Jesus School as the co-director of the gym program and the hot lunch program.  Dot was a past member of the Holy Name Ladies Guild and Parish Council. She was a true animal lover especially dogs and had rescued many over her lifetime.  She was known by many beloved furry friends and grand-pups as the “cookie lady” as she always had a few dog treats in her pockets at the ready.  While she would say she disliked cooking, she loved to watch cooking shows and she was a great cook and baker with some of her specialties being family tradition chicken soup, pasta and meatballs, lobster, nut rolls and paska bread.

Survivors include her children: Denise Buonocore (Michael) of Milford, Marianne Arsenault (Stephen) of Shelton, Michael Guaglianone of Stratford and Dennis Guaglianone, five grandchildren; Anthony, Candace and Christian Guaglianone and Chase and Emma Arsenault and several nieces and nephews.  Dorothy is predeceased by her siblings; Francis and John Kucky and Margaret Stoliker.
