Barnes, Dorothy Dodson, 101, a resident of Valley, AL passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Arbor Springs Health & Rehab in Opelika, AL.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by her children, Billy Barnes (Teresa), Dena Barnes, & Diana Barnes; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Isaac Barnes.
She was born in Fayette County, AL on June 25, 1916. Mrs. Barnes was a graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn) with a degree in Home Economics and a minor in Chemistry. During WWII, she worked in the Testing Lab at Fort Belvoir, VA. She was retired from West Point Pepperell Central Testing Laboratory. After her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed working with woodcrafts and quilt making. She was a longtime member of the Lanett First United Methodist Church.
