Dorothy D. Darby of Moscow died Thursday morning, April 13, 2017 at Kindred Aspen Park Health Care. She was 80. Dorothy was born January 17, 1937 in Kendrick to Arthur and Maxine Garner Foster. She grew up and attended school in Kendrick, graduating from high school there. She began working as a telephone operator in Kendrick, later transferring to Moscow. She and Wayne L. Darby were married in Coeur d’Alene on August 26, 1970. Dorothy retired from General Telephone (GTE) after 29 years with the company. Dorothy enjoyed working crossword puzzles, taking drives in the county and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Retired Telephone Pioneers. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wayne, at their Moscow home, her step-children, Monica Felton of Rathdrum, ID, Mark (Linda) Darby of Troy and Marsha (Gary) Holthause of Clarkston. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her brother, Gene Foster of Clarkston and sisters, Margie Alexander of Kendrick and Janice Vaughn of Eugene, OR survive as well. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Fred Foster.
