Mrs. Dorothy “Cricket” Van Ness, 66, of Hazel Green, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning while at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was dedicated to her family, loved others unconditionally, and had found her faith in God. She loved sitting on her porch in her rocking chair looking at her petunias. Throughout her life, even during her battle with cancer, she had a positive spirit and did not complain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Mel” Van Ness in 2013; By her father, Howard Benson; and by her brother, Alvin Benson.
Surviving family members include her children: Scott Van Ness and his wife, Julie, and Tina Van Ness and her husband, Phoun Kounlavong; Her grandchildren: Alex and Soureya Kahlee Syharath, Gary and Austin Owens, and Meia and Alec Kounlavong; Her mother, Nellie Ruth Benson; her brother Howard “Bucky” Benson Jr. and his wife, Reda K.; Her nephew, Jason Benson and his wife, Cassandra.
