Dorothy Elizabeth Clingan Shipley, age 85 of Westminster, died Monday August 29, 2011 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. She was born April 5, 1926 in Westminster the daughter of the late David N. and Elizabeth Stem Clingan. She was the wife of Sterling A. Shipley, Jr., her husband of 65 years. She was a 1943 graduate of Westminster High School. Dorothy worked as an accountant for Sturgill, Rager & Lehman in Westminster and retired in 2001 as controller with Controlled Demolition. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, JoAnn S. Tyler and Mary E. Klinger and companion, Samuel Ayres all of Westminster ; Sterling “Buzz” Shipley and wife, Patricia and Vincent D. Shipley all of Frederick; siblings, David N. “Bud” Clingan, Jean Zepp and James Clingan and wife, Elinor all of Westminster; grandchildren, Thomas Fritz and wife, Melinda, Joan and husband Grant Gursky, Stephanie and husband, Christopher Deedy, Patrick Shipley and Alexandra Tyler; great grandchildren, Ashlie Wetzel, Taylor Fritz, Cole Gursky, Greyson Gursky and Brenner Gursky; great great granddaughter, Kaylee Wetzel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Rosalie Peeling.
11:00 A.M. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster with Rev. Louis A. Bianco as celebrant.
