Dorothy C. Winkles, age 81 of Sharpsburg, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home. She was born on April 8, 1935 to John Felton Causey, Sr. and Mattie Will McDowell Causey.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Felton Causey.
She is survived by her son, Chester L. Winkles, Jr (Lynn Hayes Winkles), grandson, Nicholas Tyler Winkles; brother, John F. Causey, Jr. and longtime family friend, Elaine Lassetter.
She graduated from Newnan High School in 1953 and graduated from Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing in 1979. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. One of her greatest passions in life was her nursing career where she was employed at many hospitals in the Atlanta area gaining knowledge which lead to higher certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor and Acute Critical Care Nurse. She retired from Piedmont Newnan Hospital as the Director of the Critical Care Unit and Emergency Room. She often volunteered at local Heart patient Rehabilitation facilities and was once a Preceptor to a student enrolled at West Georgia College of Nursing while performing the role of Nurse Manager in Newnan Hospital ICU. She was a member at Macedonia Baptist Church in Newnan.
