She was preceded in death by her parents, John Milton and Maud (Hawkins) Johnson; husband, Bert; and her sister, Laura Mae (Johnson) Anderson.
Dorothy graduated from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1936. She worked as an inspector in the factory at the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 1976.
Dorothy was a member of the Women of the Moose, College of Regents and Academy of Friendship, Past Pocahontas since 1940, VFW 1655, 20 years at Knoxville VA Hospital with VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Post 111, United-Spanish War Veteran Auxiliary #5, Rebekah Lodge, Skiff Medical Center Volunteer, Jasper County Historical Society, Jasper County Genealogy, RSVP, Jasper County Senior Citizens, and the UAW 997 Local Retirees Union.
