Dorothy Ann Barrett Golden, 99, of Newnan, Georgia passed away peacefully Thursday, October 14, 2021. Mrs. Golden (aka Mother, Grandmother, Mammaw, Nanny) was born April 17, 1922. She was the eighth of nine children born to John and Hattie Barrett in Heard County, Georgia where she grew up and lived all her childhood and young adult life. She married the love of her life, Willard Frazier Golden, in 1939 and they had five children. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie McClain Barrett, her loving husband, Willard Frazier Golden in 1986, her four sisters and four brothers, making her the last of the nine children to pass away.

One grandson, Randall Frazier Golden, Jr., also preceded her in death. She is survived by her five children, Randall Golden, Janice Hall, Pat Cantrell (Jimmy), Kaye Burson (Milton), and Cindy Brown (Kirby). She was blessed to have twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Until two years ago, Dorothy lived in her home in the Welcome Community for over fifty years. She was an active member of New Lebanon Baptist Church for many years and was a faithful member as long as her health allowed. Even in her late 90’s, she remained active and independent. She was a great cook and an avid gardener. Many admired her amazing spirit and love for her family and her Lord. She was a beautiful person both inside and out and will be missed by her loved ones and everyone who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at Insignia of Newnan for the tremendous care and genuine love provided to our mother. She always told them how kind everyone treated her, and she called them her “best friends”. Thanks, also, for the love, compassion, and care given by the staff at Agape.
