Dorothy A. Schaffer, 93, of Freeport, died Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Stephenson Nursing Center. Born February 27, 1919, in Cherokee, IA she was the daughter of Emory and Edna (Mellot) Howard. She married Daniel Schaffer June 20, 1936 in Elkton, SD. He died on April 10, 2009. Dorothy was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Freeport.
Surviving is her daughter, Grace (Gary) Mohr of Freeport; her son-in-law, Earnest (Della) Clark of Tyler, TX; 5 grandchildren including local resident, Stacey (Doug) Dach; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Dolores (Dee) Clark; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.
