Dorothy A. Pacyna, 73, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2014 in West Hartford. Dorothy will be remembered for her extraordinary warmth, caring nature, good humor and intelligence. She graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing, Hartford, CT, earning her R.N. in 1961. Dorothy went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College in 1964 and then furthered her education by earning her Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco in 1969. Her characteristic of sacrificing her time and energy for others was quite authentic. After graduating, Dorothy began and enjoyed a long and very successful career in the field of nursing and public health with positions located in Roanoke, VA; New Orleans, LA, and in various locations in CT. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy was employed by the State of CT working for the Department of Public Health as the Supervising Nurse Consultant of the Child, Adolescent and School Health Unit.
