Dorothea E. Welgatt-Sell, 93, of Peru, died at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, following a six month illness. She was born September 24, 1913 in Peru to John and Mary (Mueller) Menne. She married Charles Welgatt on November 9, 1935 in St. Josephs Church, Peru. He died October 30, 1955. She then married Carl Sell on February 27, 1960 in St. Josephs Church, Peru.
He died in September, 1988. She had worked at Johnnys Grocery Store in Peru for many years. She was a member of St. Josephs Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, IVC Hospital Auxiliary, Peru VFW Auxiliary, AARP, and was a volunteer for Lighted Way Association for over 15 years. Surviving are a son Charles (Christy) Welgatt of Seatonville, a step-son Robert Sell of LaSalle, 2 step-daughters: Nancy (Allan) Smith of Tonica and Gerry Loucks of Seatonville, 2 grandchildren Stephanie and Kenneth Welgatt, 6 step-grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Ruth Rasponi of Enterprise, Alabama, and Marlene Wadas of Peru, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st and 2nd husbands, 3 brothers: John, Raymond and Ralph Menne, and a nephew.
