     Mrs. Doris White Pike, 82, of Valley, Alabama passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. She was born on April 25, 1934 in Stroud, Alabama.

     Mrs. Pike is survived by her son, Michael E. Pike (Ann) of Valley; her daughter in law, Donna A. Pike of Valley; four grandchildren, Daniel Pike (Crystal), Kristen Nelson (Jeff), Kerri Williams (Ronnie), Katti Pike; five special great grandchildren, Callie Pike, Cason Pike, Rush Nelson, Reid Nelson, and Gracie Williams; her sister, Sara Bishop (Evan) of Lynchburg, VA; her brother in law, Bennie Pike (Joy) of Fredonia, AL; her niece, Laurrine Sorrell; her special friend, Daisy Aaron; and many other family and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Pike; her son, Melvin L. Pike; her parents, Floyd and Willie Mae White; her brother, Gary White.

     Mrs. Pike was a member of Fairfax United Methodist Church where she was part of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was a Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Conference. She worked diligently at Playtex until its closing. Upon closing, she was determined to get her education and become an educator. She received her GED from Southern Union State Community College, received her B.S. from Auburn University and then pushed forward to gain her Master’s Degree from Auburn University. She then taught at AU in the apprentice program. She later became a Home Economics instructor for the Chambers County School System where she spent many years at Five Points, Valley High School, and the Chambers County Area Vocational School where she retired from in 1996. She had a great love for sewing, reading novels, teaching and studying the Bible, cooking, fishing, and most importantly, spending time with her family.
