Doris Anna Taylor Devine, 97, of Cromwell, wife of the late James V. Devine, passed away on Thursday, May 17th at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell. Born in Haverstraw, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Jessie (Allison) Taylor. Doris had lived in New York City, Rocky Hill and Glastonbury before moving to Covenant Retirement Village in Cromwell in 1994. She was an accomplished wordsmith, witty conversationalist, New York Times crossword puzzle fanatic, pianist, organist, amateur artist, self taught in Spanish and an avid horsewoman. In the later years, she and her husband, Jim travelled the nation in their motor home and toured Europe frequently.
