Doris Valarie Stogner Livengood Fortune, 79, of Salisbury passed away July 14, 2014 at her residence.
She was born September 12, 1934 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Melvarine Cauble Stogner and Charles W. Stogner.
Doris attended Rowan County Schools, was a homemaker, and loved to spend time with her family, go to the beach, sing, and play the piano. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy N. Livengood; husband, Bill Fortune, Sr.; son, Terry Livengood; and grandchildren, Douglas Redwine and Wendy Martin Lowe.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Billy Ray Livengood (Sharon) of Salisbury; daughter, Debbie L. Varner of Salisbury; daughter-in-law, Connie Livengood of Salisbury; grandchildren, Tammy Lemmons, Eric Livengood (Jodi), Larry Bryant (Michele); Terry Alan Livengood (Celina White), and Angela Horton (Jeff); 19 great-grandchildren, Stephanie Lemmons, Lauren Livengood, Ashlee Wagoner, Shelbee, Logan, and Emmaree Bryant, Brooklyn, Zackery, and Emily Livengood, Shelby, Steven, and Ashley White, Alysha and Savannah Shaver, Patricia Sipes, Laney and Jordin Horton, and Victor and Billy Lowe; great-great-grandchildren, Amad, Sophia, and Samuel Lowe; and stepson, Bill Fortune, Jr and wife.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Connie Livengood, who was a loving caregiver to her husband, Terry, who passed away April 10, 2014 and also to Doris, her mother-in-law, during their final months.
