Doris Maxine (Patterson) Zinn, 85, passed away Sunday Jan. 13, 2013 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood. Doris was born Sept. 16, 1927 in Shannondale, Indiana to Earl W. and Esther L. (Hinkle) Patterson. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute with an Art degree and did a Norman Rockwell Art correspondent course. Doris was the art teacher with the Children’s Ministry at Gray Road Baptist Church for several years She married George Zinn in August of 1949; they were married for 63 years. Doris enjoyed gardening, reading and collecting rocks and shells. She was an accomplished artist, enjoyed writing and published articles in the Sunday school paper. She trained her dogs for lessons with children during vacation bible school.

Survivors include seven children, Jennifer (John) McDowell of Greenwood, Sonya (Jeff) Eschelman and Bob (Debbie) Zinn both of Ohio, Jeff (Christine ) Zinn of Georgia, Kathy (George) Ely of Calf., Mary (Phil) Sowl of Indianapolis, and Jaretta (Jim) Hissom of W. Virginia, brother, Don ( Barbara) Patterson of Bloomfield, four grandchildren, Matt McDowell, Sara Charles, Stephanie McDowell, Lesley McDowell and four great-grandchildren, Zander Charles, Xavier Charles, Trinity Galloway and Derek Bibbs and 13 other great- grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Zinn in July of 2012, and brother, Arthur L. Patterson and sister -in-law, Doris J. Patterson.
