Childersburg, AL – Mrs. Doris M. Lemon was born on June3, 1945 to the late Charlie and Rosa Mathis.
She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, she later joined Enon Missionary Baptist Church until her sunset.
She was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School. Doris was later hired the secretary and substitute at Phyllis Wheatley after completing high school. She was the first African American woman in office at Nunnelly State Technical College, and retired after 25 years from Southern Company and many other accolades.
Doris was united in holy matrimony to Mr. J.W. Lemon on July 5, 1962.
She was preceded in death by her parents and only son, Stanley Maurice Lemon.
Mrs. Lemon departed this walk of life on May 6, 2018 at Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham, AL.
She is survived by a loving husband, J.W. Lemon of Childersburg, AL; three daughters, Angela (Lynward) Wilson of Kellyton, AL; Cynthia Jackson, and Nikara Lemon both of Childersburg, AL; eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
