Doris Mae Tackett, 86, of Nampa, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at a Nampa care facility.

Doris was born in Portland, Oregon to William and Edna Bly on May 24, 1932. She was one of five children. They moved to the Mojave Desert when she was 5 and later moved to Nampa, Idaho. She met the love of her life Ballard Tackett in 1951 and they were married on December 8th.  They made their home in Nampa Idaho where they raised their 5 children. Tonia, Laureen, Russell, Wendy and Brett.

She was a homemaker, a room mother at school, and girl scout leader for many years.  Once her children were grown, she then went on to work as a USDA potato inspector at Carnation where she later retired. She then began to travel finding a passion for exploring new areas. She went on many cruises and traveled overseas to Germany and Australia. In the winter she enjoyed her trips to Arizona with her sister in law Jan.

She had a great love of the outdoors and spent a lot of time camping. Her favorite places were Johnson Creek and Burgdorf.

She is survived by four children Tonia Tackett, Russell (Tracie) Tackett, Wendy Williams, Brett Tackett. One sister Sherry (Jerry) Durante, one brother Lonnie Bly. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Ballard, one daughter Laureen (Tom) Bond, two sisters Vickie and Barbara, one great granddaughter Haven, and Sassy her beloved companion.
