Doris Mae Barrows, 84, of Edwardsburg, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Thursday morning, March 28, 2013, in her residence. Doris was born on June 26, 1928, in Elkhart, Ind., to the late Leslie E. and Alta M. (Aker) Kirchner.
In addition to her parents, a son, Wayne Earl Barrows, and four brothers, Jerry, Leslie, Harold, and Gene Kirchner preceded her in death.
Doris married Wayne Barrows on Feb. 11, 1951, in Elkhart.
Wayne survives, as do three daughters, Priscilla (Ronald) Miller of South Bend, Ind., Cathy (Allan) Smith of Niles and Janet (Frank) Kujawa of Cassopolis; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters Patricia Butler of Edwardsburg and Irene (Ralph) Smead of Sun City, Ariz.
Doris was a graduate of Elkhart High School and began working at CTS in Elkhart, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club and retired after 43 years of service. Doris was known to be feisty at times, but she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Doris enjoyed her computer and playing the lotto.
