Doris M.(Bushong) Janes Spurling died June 11, 2015 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus. She was born February 18,1922 to Lertie E. and Nellie Grace (Mohler) Bushong. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1940 and worked at Ward Stilson as a seamstress till her marriage in 1942 to John W. Janes. In later years she was able to use her sewing skills to sew for herself and her daughters. Doris always loved to paint and draw and after her children were grown, she was able to paint many pictures for family and friends. With her first husband, John W. Janes she had the California Market on 29th and Brown Street and later the Southside Package Store across the street. She and her husband, along with their son and son-in-law founded the Keg-N-Bottle stores in 1969. In 1984 she married Charles E. Spurling and moved to Spring City, TN; their home was on the Tennessee River and they spent many years boating on the beautiful waterways of Tennessee with family and friends. In 2002 they returned to Anderson. Doris is survived by four children: Coral Janes (James) Hackleman; John (Jane) Janes; Mickey Janes; all of Anderson, and Sherry Janes (Roger) Curry of Austell, GA.; seven grandchildren; Jama Pryor and Lisa Janes (Dan) Ripley of Indianapolis and Joel Hackleman of Noblesville; John (Melissa) Curry, Caleb (Charity) Curry, Deborah Curry, and Esther Curry of Georgia. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren; also a brother-in-law Robert Watson and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband John W. Janes, her husband of 20 years, Charles. E.Spurling, a brother, Major Lee L. Bushong, a sister, Barbara J. Watson and a sister-in-law, Jerry Emmerling.
