Doris M. (Leathers) Hennis, 97, of Ingalls, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Born December 6, 1918 in Cash, Arkansas to the late Marion and Addie (McCallister) Leathers, she moved to Chesterfield in 1922, where she lived for 25 years before moving to Ingalls.
She retired from South Madison School Corporation where she worked as a cook in the cafeteria for 20 years. A devout Christian, she was a 60+ year member of the Ingalls Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Fortville Chapter 149. Doris is survived by her three children: Bonnie (Paul) Cogswell, Rex Hennis, and Rodney “Pete” (Tina) Hennis; granddaughters Jennifer (Jason) Arms, Lisa (Richard Carlson) Fry, and Heather Hennis-Snyder; grandson Bryan (Cindy) Cogswell; five great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers Bob (Pauline) Leathers and Bill (Eldora) Leathers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph “Bugs” Hennis; sisters: Mary Ellen Leathers, JoAnn Leathers, Ada Moore, Ella McDaniels, and Betty Everett; brothers: Joe, Arnold and Don Leathers a nd her son-in-law Paul Cogswell.
