Doris McClung Barner, 93, died peacefully in her home on August 6, 2017 in Newnan, GA.
Doris was born July 18, 1924 in Hiram, GA. Her parents were Joseph T. McClung and Ethel Gay Grimes McClung. She was one of 16 siblings, only her youngest brother, Ronald I. McClung (Beatrice) of Hiram, GA, survives. Doris raised 6 children, through chaotic circumstances, all alive and well today, including Ed Barner (Travis) of Newnan, GA, Janet Harris (Bobby) of Macon, GA Sandra McGinnis (Gary) of Roanoke, AL, Richard Barner of Newnan, GA, Valerie Chappell (John) of Rex, GA, and Jerry Barner (Kelly) of Acworth, GA, as well as 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Doris graduated from Hiram High School in 1942, during WWII. She worked at Sears Corp, for over 25 years by catching a ride to the bus stop and then riding 2 different buses every day, each way and is also a credited song lyricist.
