Doris Jean (Lavy) Budge December 13, 1933 – February 12, 2022

Doris Jean Budge passed away peacefully from natural causes on February 12 while in Hospice Care. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Neal Budge, her mother, Doris Lucille Lavy, her father Mickey C. Lavy, aunts Loraine Greaves Deckert, Patricia Greaves Wall, and uncle Robert Greaves.

Doris was an alumni of TCU where she studied drama prior to her marriage. As a devoted wife and mother she focused her energy on being an outstanding homemaker. Family meant everything to her and she seized every opportunity to bring the family together. Being the wife of a geologist required frequent moves around west Texas, until the family moved to Albuquerque New Mexico. At that time Doris had the opportunity to travel back and forth to Santa Fe to assist her parents with their gallery and frame shop. Her love of art led her to work part time for a prominent art gallery in Albuquerque arranging exhibitions for Wilson Hurley. Doris was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi where she served as president for multiple chapters, and made life long friends. After moving to Dallas the family became members of Highland Park Methodist Church and Doris became an active member of the Geological Society, the North Dallas Women’s Club, the Literary Society, the Tate Lecture Series, the Knife and Fork Supper Club, and several bridge groups. Doris continued support of the visual and performing arts with active memberships in numerous museums. She enjoyed attending performing and visual art events, and maintained an active lifestyle until the lockdown of the covid pandemic. A true extrovert, the isolation she endured had a severe effect on her health resulting in her move to assisted living at CCYoung. As restrictions were lifted Doris developed deep and loving friendships with the staff and residents of CCYoung. In her last days Doris was surrounded with love by her family.

She is survived by her son Arthur Neal Budge Jr., daughter in law Deborah Hammond Budge, of Dallas, daughter, Susan Budge, soon to be son in law Richard Paulson of Houston, brother Mickey C.
