Doris Jean Jemison-McKinney was born on February 19, 1949, to the parentage of the late William Jemison and Atheria Wilson-Jemison in Sylacauga, Alabama.
She departed her walk of life on August 20, 2019, at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama.
At an early age Doris Jean Jemison McKinney confessed her life to Christ at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, then later moved her membership to Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her illness. She served in the church choir.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Ray McKinney in 1967, to this union, three children were born. On January 6, 1975, she received her LPN license and September 21, 1981 she received her RN license. She was employed at Coosa Valley Medical Center for almost thirty years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Atheria Jemison, her brothers, Donald Wilson and William L. Jemison, and one sister, Gladys Denise Jemison.
She leaves to cherish her memories three loving children, Oren (Aretha) McKinney of Sylacauga, AL; Terrance (Yumeka) McKinney of Montgomery, AL; Evangelist Raelitra McKinney of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Rev. Fredrick (Lemadra) Jemison of Sylacauga, AL; four sisters, Kathleen (Lewis) Robinson, Carol (Sylvester) Patterson, Victoria (Nathaniel) Williams, all of Sylacauga, AL; and Atheria Jane (Alfred) Abraham of Decatur, IL; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two aunts, Gwendolyn Hale and Catherine Taylor; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
