On Saturday evening, April 16, 2022, Doris Elliott Locklear (Dot) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was 89. Dot was born in High Point, NC on August 4, 1932, to Mansel H. and Annie Purser Elliott (both deceased). She graduated from High Point College with a degree in Home Economics; skills she would use as a stay-at-home mom. She met Thomas F Locklear (Frank) on a blind date while he was stationed at Cherry Point, NC. They were married September 19, 1953, in High Point.
Frank and Dot were blessed with six daughters. They traveled the US settling in New Smyrna Beach in 1963, making it their forever home. Dot was always supportive of her daughters in all their activities. She was an excellent cook and seamstress.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Terrye (Randy) Hensley, Trudy Johnson, Tina (Bob) Beecraft, Tricia Miller, Tammy (John) Giaimo, and Tonia (Greg) Marin, thirteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Braxton Elliott of Trinity, NC. and several nieces and nephews.
Dot was proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank and sister, Ruth Lilly of Newport, NC.
