Doris E. Erdman, 91, of Freeport, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 9, 1921, in Freeport, to Frank and Marie (Evers) Walter. She married Ralph D. Erdman in July of 1948 and died in June of 1992.Doris was employed many years at the Fairbanks Morse & Co as Receptionist, and Office Manager for Dr. Elwood F. Kortemeier, Ophthalmologist, before retiring.
Doris was a life time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and very active in church affairs, serving as part-time church secretary, member of the church choir, and 13 years as Treasurer for the Immanuel Lutheran Concordia Society. She was also a long-time member of the Harlem Unit of Stephenson County Home Extension, serving as Vice-President.
Doris is survived by her son, Thomas (Ellen) Erdmann of Phoenix, AZ, her daughter, Nan McMurray of Freeport; brother, Richard G. (Verda) Walter of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter, Raegan Erdman (Grant) Lepper of Santa Barbara, CA,; great granddaughter, Sierra Rustman of San Juan Capistrano, CA; four nephews, Richard D (Kelly) Walter and Dennis (Cathy) Walter of Tucson, AZ, Timothy Walter of North Dakota, and Kenneth (Nilia) Walter of Fort Collins, Co; cousins, great nephews and nieces, and special cousins, Rev. James P. (Alane) Evers of Oak Ridge, TN, and Craig Bowen, of Sterling, Il.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Aaron Erdman; brother, Robert Walter; and many aunts; uncles; and cousins.
