Dr. Doris D. Wood, LPC, LMFT, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep the morning of Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Doris is survived by her husband David, daughter Susan, son Wayne (Jan), sister Nancy Damiani (Frank), grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends. Doris was a well-respected marriage and family counselor, as well as an author and artist. She graduated from Birmingham-Southern and UAB and earned her doctorate in Counselor Education from University of Alabama. Prior to the counseling career, Doris was a distinguished federal government Contract Administrator for Department of Defense. Always active in church work, Doris was a ladies’ Bible class teacher and occasionally spoke at Ladies’ Day events at churches.
