Doris D. Martin, 90, of Milford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven with her children at her side. She was born April 19, 1921 in Oakville, CT and has been a resident of Milford for 51 years.
Doris was a proud wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was the family’s matriarch and made it her life’s mission to keep everyone close together. She was an avid pinochle player and loved playing long marathons. Doris enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, and had worked at Imprints in West Haven for 9 years. She was a meticulous individual and loved to organize.
She enjoyed keeping in touch with long distance family and friends and was famous for her humorous and personable hand-written letters, treasured by all recipients.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Enos Philip Martin, mother and father, Emma (Laneville) and Joseph Perrault, two sisters, Joan Perrault O’Neil and Georgette Perrault Clayton and beloved nephew Charles “Chuck” O’Neil. Doris is survived by four sons and two daughters, Wayne Martin (Daughter in law JoEllen) of Milford, Ronald Martin (Daughter in law Jane) of FL, Thomas Martin of West Haven, Eileen Lawler (Son in law Mike) of Milford, Jane Mitola of Milford and Bernard Martin of Milford. She is also survived by her loving thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
