Doris was born February 11, 1924 to Chris & Sena Christensen on a farm near Viborg, South Dakota. She attended a small country grade school and then graduated from Viborg High School in 1944. After high school, she entered into the work force as a dental assistant at the VA hospital in Sioux Fall, S.D.

In 1956 she moved & transferred with the VA hospital to Denver, CO where she retired after 37 years. Shortly after moving to Denver, she married Thomas E. Donahoe & on January 7, 1959 they gave birth to their son Daniel Kevin Donahoe.

After retiring from the VA hospital, she then went to work part time for the State of Colorado at the Health Science Center where she retired after 10 years. Her working career continued for another 7 years at the Bonfils Blood Center, and then she entered permanent retirement.

For the remaining years of her life she was actively involved in the Polka Lovers Klub of America, where every Sunday afternoon they held their weekly dance at the Kickers Club in Golden CO. Besides polka dancing, her other passions & hobbies were designing and making her own jewelry as well as making all her own clothes & she definitely had her own style.

Doris was an extremely independent person and absolutely loved living life to its fullest. The last couple of years became more difficult with age and declining health, so in January 2017, she moved to MorningStar Assisted Living facility in Denver, CO where she lived up until her passing November 27, 2018.

She leaves behind a most beloved son Dan K. Donahoe who resides in Aurora Co. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas E. Donahoe, three sisters, Ruth Christensen, Ann Hallberg, Pearl Dawson & one niece Deb Dawson.

Survivors included 3 siblings: her sister Shirley Korsmo (Escondido, CA), two brothers Alden & Kilmer Christensen (Viborg, S.D.) one niece & several nephews.
