Doris Irene Archer, 90, of Bloomington and formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away, Friday, June 16, 2017. Doris was born Aug. 12, 1926, to the late Russell and Louise (Vaughn) Bunch.
Doris graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in June 1944 in Indianapolis. After graduation, she worked at Sears & Roebuck where she met her future husband, Bernie Archer. In May of 1949, Doris and Bernie moved to Crawfordsville where they started their family and Bernie opened the R. Bee Furniture store that he managed for 32 years.
Doris was a member of the Delta Theta Tau sorority, Elks Auxiliary, American Legion and attended the First Baptist Church.
Doris was a loving mother, known for her cooking, love of flowers and pets. Her family was the most important part of her life.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Doris is survived by her two sons and daughter, Steven Archer (wife, Alice French), John Archer, all of Bloomington, and Deborah Archer-Campbell (husband, Steven Campbell) of Indio, California; two granddaughters, Miriam Hauth (Chad) of Geneva, Illinois, and Rachel Yessa (Robert Jr.) of South Bend; and four great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Avery Hauth and Archer and Bennett Yessa, who fondly called her “GG.”
