Doris Ann McConnell, age 86, of Bloomington, passed away July 30, 2010. She was born April 7, 1924 at Indianapolis to Walter and Naomi (Hall) Hook.
She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School at Indianapolis in 1942. She then spent one year at Indiana University in pre-nursing and graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing as an R.N. in 1946. She had a long and rewarding career as a nurse in numerous practice areas, including 14 years as a nurse in the Hamilton Heights and Bloomington School Systems. Doris was also the first Director of Nurses at the Orange County Hospital. She was instrumental in the planning and opening of that facility. She retired from nursing at RCA Corporation at Bloomington, IN.
Doris was not only an outstanding nurse, but also a wonderful cook, homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her passions in life were her children, husband, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her home and her career.
