Mrs. Bittner was born on August 10, 1913 in Peru to Frank and Minnie (Grabow) Weisheit. She married Ira C. “Ike” Fuller in 1945. He passed away in 1952. She later married Howard E. Bittner on July 27, 1957 in Peru. He passed away in 2006. She received her certificate in floral design in Chicago and spent 50 years working as a florist for Penning Florist and Weber Florist. She was a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ in Peru and the 4th Street Girls.
She celebrated 103 years of life and brought much joy and laughter to those who knew her. Doris was an avid baker and enjoyed making and decorating Christmas cookies for her family. Doris was a gifted artist and loved to paint and had made numerous paintings for her family members over the years.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Paula Gilligan and David Marple; three great-grandchildren, Breanne Suarez, Natalie and Sarah Gilligan; one great-great grandson, Greyson Suarez; one sister, Betty Nelson of Peru and her son in-law, George Marple of Peru.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one daughter, JoAnn “Pat” (Clark) Marple; two brothers, Ralph and Melvin Weisheit and three sisters, Mary Carhart, Etta Skotniki and Elaine Schroeder.
